welcome to the portmarnock 5k beach race 2026

Race Details

It’s almost time to hit the sand for the Portmarnock 5K Beach Race. We are looking forward to seeing you.

Please read the following pre-race instructions carefully.

Kids Colour Dash

Kids Colour-Dash starts at 6pm

This short fun-run is open to younger children, aged 10 and under ONLY. You do not need to register for this run and entry is free. Parents and guardians are welcome to run with their children.

Juvenile Race

Juvenile 2km Race starts at 6.30pm

All juvenile runners must register in advance to receive their race number before the race. If you chose to pick up your number at the event, please go to the Juvenile Number PickUp desk located on the beach.

Seniors Race

Senior 5K race starts at 7pm

Race entry costs €25 plus booking fee. Register here. Free t-shirt for first 500 people to register for senior race!

Juvenile 2km Race instructions

All juvenile runners must register in advance. There is no sign-up on the day of the race.

All runners will be issued a race number. You must have a race number to compete. You can collect your number on the night, or opt to pay for postage when registering online.

Number pick-up opens at 5PM.

Please follow the instructions of the race marshals at all times.

Seniors Race instructions

The Seniors Race starts at 7pm sharp. You must be registered and have a race number to compete.

I have my number

Already have your number? You’re good to go! Just pin it to your t-shirt before the race.

I need to collect my number.

If you chose to collect your number prior to the race, you can pick up your number at the Race Number Pickup desk from 5.00PM.

I want to register on the evening.

A very limited number of last-minute registrations may be available from 5.00PM on a first-come; first-served basis at €25. Availability of such entries is not guaranteed. Payment by CASH and REVOLUT ONLY.

For number pickup and late registration (if available), please go to the Number Pickup and Registration desks, which will be located on Portmarnock Strand beside “the shelters”.

Just look for the ice-cream kiosk at the main entrance to the beach, across the road from WhiteSands hotel.

Prizegiving

Prizes will be awarded for both races.

Juvenile Race

• Under 11 - 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed boy and girl
• Under 13 - 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed boy and girl
• Under 15 – 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed boy and girl

Senior Race

• 1st place man and woman - €150 each
• 2nd place man and woman - €75 each
• 3rd place man and woman - €50 each

Lidl Voucher Prizes also for 1st placed Senior (aged 40+)

Bag Drop

A bag-drop facility will be available on the beach near the race start.

Bag-drop opens at 5.30PM and closes at 8.30PM sharp.

You must show your race number to put a bag into, and take a bag from, the bag drop area. Small bags only.

Race Photos

Race photos will be available to buy 48hrs after the race here.

Race Parking

Please use public transport or walk to the race if possible.

Limited pay-parking is available on a first-come; first-served basis at the Public Car Park beside the Links Hotel and at WhiteSands Hotel.

Please do NOT park in the spaces at the front of Spar and Koba - clamping will be in operation!

Please follow the instructions of the parking marshals.

We cannot guarantee parking spaces for everybody, so please come early to get your spot.

Toilets

Public toilet facilities are available on the beach.

Safety and Security

Please follow the instructions of the race marshals at all times.
